JOB TITLE: VP R&D & Technical Services All natural high quality organic Pet Food Manufacturer

SALARY: $180K - $220K + 30% bonus


Reporting to the President & Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of R&D and Technical Services will be responsible for leading the development and evolution of the Nutrition, Quality Assurance and Veterinary Services departments. He/she will also be responsible for the coordination of department activities, budgets, and implementation of infrastructure to meet the needs of the growing business.

Additionally, this person will:

• Develop business strategies and best practices for the R&D, QA and Veterinary Services departments

• Oversee all new formula development, existing formula optimization and all formula improvements to meet business objectives

• Oversee all quality process and procedures to maintain and improve best in class quality standards

• Develop, expand and oversee veterinary services department to meet the growing needs and objectives of the business

• Provide both technical and scientific support to internal and external customers with goal to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage in the pet food industry

• Assess current (“as is”) and future (“should be”) process effectiveness for all direct report departments and implement improvements

• Direct the implementation of effective, value-added process designs to improve business performance

• Develop key department business metrics, measurement tools and monitoring systems

• Oversee process and proprietary information transfers from within the company to third party suppliers/ vendors (i.e. processing parameters, formulas, quality manuals, marketing information, etc.)

• Perform business analysis to support execution excellence and management of change

• Evaluate the Return on Investment (ROI) for business process improvements

• Plan, direct and manage departmental budgets to maximize investments and increase efficiency

• Lead and manage all department Directors (Nutrition, Quality, and Veterinary Services) to deliver business objectives

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of fifteen years of experience, mostly in nutrition and quality management leadership roles. He/She should have worked in a regulated product environment, consumer packaged goods environment (preferably pet food or other perishable goods). He/She should have demonstrated experience in business analysis, strategy, process improvement, project management, financial analysis, and business metrics. The Vice President of R&D and Technical Services must be a strong communicator and leader and be able to demonstrate the following:
