JO 15270 QC Supervisor – night shift  (3pm – midnight)

Custom dried fruit  products, fruit pieces, fruit extrusions, pastes and other ingredient items

Location:

Sacramento / San Francisco CA area

Salary Range:

To $55K + 10% bonus

Summary:

Responsible for ensuring that Night Shift produces to specification on a daily basis while keeping product HOLDs to a minimum. (1- 6 production lines with 50-60 non-union hourly.)                     Reports to the Technical Services/QA-QC Manager.

Ensures Food Safety requirements and GMP’s are adhered to and assists production where needed to troubleshoot  issues related to product quality. Responsible for the effective utilization of QA Department resources and for participating on management teams to provide information or direction on special projects. Provides technical support where needed. Other duties and responsibilities in addition to the following may be assigned.

Responsibilities:

Accountability #1Quality Control:

·         Responsible for teaming with production to create world best practices “WBP’s” to ensure that all products meet specification and Customer expectations.

  • Responsible for providing continuous support to operations to ensure that all incoming materials meet specification. Develops and improves inspection methods as needed.
  • Compiles data and prepares corrective action reports (CAR’s) for Customers as needed.
  • Responsible for training personnel in proper administration of QA testing protocols, GMP’s and other procedures deemed necessary. Audits and recommends improvements.
  • Makes assessments of current operating procedures and effectiveness and develops improvements.
  • Provides effective daily monitoring and feedback to production staff with regards to;

o    Incoming product quality and conformance to specification.

o    Sanitation monitoring and Pre-op inspections.

o    Pest control monitoring and environmental monitoring inside and outside of the facility.

  • Maintains the company’s ability to achieve the highest scores from outside auditors.
  • Sets up cross-training programs to provide backup support.
  • Participates on CIP teams and projects as needed.
  • Participates in Internal Audits as needed supporting QA.
  • Must be able to solve problems through research and analyze results. Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Assists with all testing required in QA Lab.
  • Monitors HOLD lots and evaluates for proper disposition and keeps team informed.
  • Provides Food Safety and Quality training on the factory floor in line with incentives;

o   Quality Complaints and strategies to improve.

o   Product Cuttings and reference guides.

o   Incoming Raw Materials reports for operators.

  • Provides QA monitoring of daily inspection to identify potential quality issues.

·         Effectively utilizes human resources. Organizes recruitment and placement of required staff. Establishes organization structure and work schedules. Monitors adherence to rules, regulations and procedures.

·         Ensures all production documentation is completed and properly filed daily.

 

Accountability #2 – Supervisorial:

·         Promptly informs Superiors of known or anticipated problems.

·         Direct Reports are Food/safety admin, QA clerk, QA specialist, Lead Lab Tech

·         Ensures clear and timely communication within/and other departments to maximize productivity.     

·         Acts as a problem solver, and team player

·         Must have good written and verbal communication skills

·         Must be experienced with a personal computer, Word, Excel and S2K

·         Keeps Dept Head abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation

Accountability # 3 – Communications:
Ensures clear and timely communication within department and with other departments to maximize quality, productivity and minimize down time.

·         Acts as a problem solver and team player.

·         Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

·         Must be experienced with a personal computer, MS Word, Excel MS Outlook, and System 2000.

·         Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during routine activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.

·         Presents technical information and or procedures to the team.
