POSITION AVAILABLE:

JO 15375 R&D Technical Manager – Meat/Protein Group

(custom seasoning blends, sauces, marinades, rubs, etc.)

Location:

WI/IL area

Salary Range:

To $110K base + 5% bonus. (Could be more depending on your qualifications & experience). Relocation assistance provided

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field required.

Required Experience:

·         5+ years experience in industrial ingredients/product development.

·         Proven ability to develop successful seasoning blends for meat products.

·         Proven knowledge of ingredient functionality across a broad range of meat products.

·         Understanding and knowledge of meat processing, pilot plant operations. Technical applications and project prioritization.

Key Accountabilities Responsibilities

·         Product development of seasoning blends for processed meat products that meets or exceeds the expectations of the customer. 

·         Hands on reverse engineering for competitor matches, reformulate current products for cost reduction, improved functionality, or process optimization.

·         Consults with suppliers and procurement to determine appropriate raw materials necessary to develop safe, quality products.

·         Provides complete documentation of each experiment including purpose, date, handling, measurements, results and conclusions of variables evaluated and subsequent course of action.

·         Assist in compiling commercialization documentation:  Product Specification creation

·         Supports customer sampling program through the coordination and supply of outgoing samples.

·         Stay current on new technologies and trends, functional ingredients, and innovation research.  Apply that knowledge to Technology and Culinary projects from bench top through commercialization.

·         Oversees pilot plant operations, budgeting, project validation, prioritization, scale up and project management. Directly supervision of 1-2 pilot plant technologists.
