Summary:

 

Responsible, self starter needed in Dairy Plan that can support all technical aspects of the industrial plant.  Included are low voltage PLC controls and instrumentation, machinery interfacing, and motor control systems.  The position is expected to train other Maintenance personnel in the theory, application, and analytical troubleshooting of these systems.  Interfacing with vendors, engineers, and plant & corporate personnel will be a major part of the position.  This position will also be responsible for hands on fixes oat the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, configuring systems and applications for the entire plant

 

Responsibilities:

1.       Ability to effectively troubleshoot all technical areas.

2.       Ability to provide “on the job” training to maintenance mechanics.

3.       Continuously seeks new ways of improving performance and controlling costs.

4.      Works closely with maintenance on a variety of issues related to equipment, department maintenance, and preventative maintenance programs.

5.      Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes

6.      Manages plant projects

7.      Actively works on production floor facilitating the exchange of data between various departments.

8.      Ability to learn new skills quickly and applies information from equipment manuals and vendor contacts.

9.      Knowledge of various high and low-voltage systems.

10.  Knowledge and understanding of PLC controls, programs, and systems as well as operator interface systems.

11.  Knowledge of various frequency drives for motors, DC Motors and drive systems.

12.  Aware of and practice plant’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as well as Good Sanitation Practices (GSP).

13.   Recommends and/or suggests any changes/additions to GMP’s and GSP’s

14.   Upholds all rules pertaining to confidentiality of information regarding the Company’s products and recipes.

15.   Attends departmental meeting and in-services as required.

16.  Performs all duties according to safety standards and as required to ensure the general safety of all other staff.

17.  Performs work duties as requested by the Plant Manager

 

Qualifications / Education:

 

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technologies/Information Technology preferred.
  2. 2-5 years related experience and/or training
  3. Strong knowledge base of IT Systems related to Operations, PC knowledge, hardware, software, Data and Telecommunications and AS400 shop, Allen Bradley & Modicon programming.
  4. Must understand TCP/IP protocol. 
  5. Attention to detail and accuracy in work required.
  6. Novell, Microsoft, Oracle, Sybase, and SQL experience is a plus.
