Salary Range:

To 115K


Manage the maintenance and repair of all plant equipment and facilities in a multi shift operation through leadership of the maintenance team.  Develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.  Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls.  Manage capital improvement program and execute projects.

Primary Job Functions:

1.       Lead the maintenance team and manage the maintenance and repair of all plant equipment, electrical systems, HVAC equipment and facilities.  Utilize CMMS to optimize maintenance effectiveness.  Develop maintenance staff capability.  Manage spare parts.  Schedule and follow up on required inspections, work orders, projects and preventative maintenance programs.

2.       Plan and execute capital and process improvement projects to achieve growth, maintain infrastructure, and achieve Operations optimization objectives.  Solicit input and build consensus with project stakeholders.  Deliver projects on-time, on-budget, and meeting performance criteria.

3.       Prepare, approve and maintain detailed schematics of processes, buildings and equipment.

4.       Qualify and direct contractor work and service contracts.

5.       Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised systems including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.

6.       Develop and Manage department expense and capital budgets

7.       Manage programs and maintain records for OSHA, EPA, FDA, BRC and other agencies/bodies as they relate to the maintenance department and engineering function.  Develop, document and maintain operating instructions, maintenance and safety procedures for manufacturing systems and equipment.

8.       Participate in company sponsored and independent professional development activities

9.       Perform other tasks as assigned by the V. P. of Operations or Manufacturing Director as needed and required.

10.    Actively offer methods of improvement and leadership through scheduled department meetings

11.    Manage attendance, overtime, and maintenance team performance.


Bachelors Degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Technology or related field from an appropriately accredited university.


10 or more years of experience supporting food production operations, managing maintenance operations, and project engineering.

Skills & Abilities:

1.       Knowledge of food manufacturing processing and packaging is essential.

2.       Strong technical skills (math, PC, problem solving, CAD, MS Project, Excel, Word, CMMS, equipment and controls troubleshooting, etc).

3.       Good reasoning ability; excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills; ability to organize, prioritize and use time efficiently.

4.       Behavioral traits desired: detail oriented, analytical; driven self-starter, energetic, team player.

5.       Technical skills in manufacturing processes and packaging including flow, layout, assembly, batching, filling, secondary packaging equipment.

6.       Problem analysis and problem resolution.

7.       Promotes the development of a safe work environment.

8.       Able to control budget, perform cost benefit evaluations and understand risk management

9.       Optimize new products using current equipment when possible
