JO 15511 3rd Shift Production Supervisor



Salary Range:

$40,000 - $68,000


Supervisor hourly processing and packaging employees under the direction of the Plant Manager, to ensure the manufacturing of safe quality foods.† Responsibilities include work load balance, scheduling, training, basic troubleshooting and performance feedback while following and holding employees accountable to company policies and standard operating procedures.


1.       Ensure safety, quality and regulatory standards are achieved daily by following SOPís, SSOPís and GMPís.

2.       Plan and coordinate production to ensure efficient operations and problem solve as needed.

3.       Review and complete production documentation, accurately and timely, including but not limited to charts, make sheets and sanitation logs.

4.       Maintain traceability on all products from ingredients through finished products. (is this part of #3)

5.       Coordinates production scheduling.

         Determine employee work schedules, including the approval of requests for time off and coordinating replacements to ensure appropriate staffing.

         Collaborate with maintenance, quality and other internal and external customers to ensure production and overall company goals are achieved.

         Schedules and ensures the completion of audits and housekeeping to ensure audit preparedness.

6.       Supervise and coach employees in the performance of their job duties; develop and conduct performance appraisals and provide feedback to direct reports.

7.       Identify and coordinate training opportunities and assist in providing training.

8.       Serves as a resource to all employees in production or other departments.

         Inspects materials, products and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.

         Works closely with Quality and Lab on product quality and in determining if product is to be put on hold or discarded.

         Assists in problem solving.

9.       Communicate with other shift Production Supervisors regularly to coordinate operations and activities.

10.   Completes Supervisor Daily Report to communicate staffing, safety, quality, production, equipment, and other shift activities.

11.   Investigates and completes documentation timely regarding employee reports of accidents, injuries and near misses.

12.   Maintain confidentiality of all company and employee information.

13.   Assists with equipment inspections as needed.

14.   Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1.       High school diploma or equivalent education and 3 Ė 5 years of similar work experience required; Associate or Bachelor degree in supervisory management or related field and two years similar work experience preferred.

2.       Cheese Maker license and Pasteurization certification preferred.

3.       Demonstrated leadership experience is required.

4.       Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and correct problems is required.

5.       Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

6.       Efficient use of Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to satisfactorily complete the Production Supervisor post-offer job screen and work in an environment with frequent exposure to noise, heat and chemicals.
