JO 15527 Distribution Manager

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our Distribution Center. This facility ships approximately 1 million lbs of our specialty cheeses per week and manages 40 employees. In addition, the distribution manager oversees two outside storage locations and a 3rd party operation on the east coast. The ideal candidate is a leader with excellent communication skills who is known for creating a positive environment and culture of teamwork. To be successful in this role, an individual must have a high level of knowledge in the field’s concepts, systems and best practices.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

·         Manage the distribution center and/or warehouse ensuring the receipt, coordination and safety of all goods coming through the facility.

·         Ensure that orders arrive and are shipped on time to the appropriate destinations and in the expected quantities.

·         Inspect and maintain efficient operating conditions of the facility and equipment

·         Establish and implement processes and systems to efficiently meet the inventory management goals and service levels of the operations.

·         Develop Key Performance Indicators to effectively measure warehouse efficiency and productivity

·         Identify the root cause and impact of delays or other issues in the distribution center; implement corrective actions in a timely manner.

·         Drive a culture of continuous improvement through the company’s Operational Excellence.

·         Develop and enforce warehouse safety and securtiy procedures, programs, and activities; promote high level safety awareness among the team

·         Effectively forecast volumes and staff accordingly; allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.

·         Coach, motivate and engage employees to support the the company‘s culture.

·         Responsible for  employee development, performance management and staffing

·         Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA).

·         Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets and capital expenditures for the distribution center; meets or exceeds budget.

Qualifications/ Minimum Requirements:

·         Minimum of 5 to 10 years experience in warehouse operations/management.

·         Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field; or equivalent experience.

·         Proven ability to lead and develop teams to deliver results

·         Demonstrated leadership in employee safety, continuous improvement and KPI achievement.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·         Ability to work in cross-functional teams.

·         Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.

·         Experience with Warehouse Management and ERP systems.

·         Microsoft Office proficient.

·         Ability to occasionally travel (annually) .
