Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for all aspects of operations at the facility.  The individual will insure that production is scheduled in an efficient manner and that an adequately trained workforce is maintained.  He/she will maintain and enforce company policy and programs. The individual will have direct responsibility to maintain the facility in a sanitary manner and insure all products meet regulatory and customer specification. The individual has direct responsibility for maintenance, laboratory, and transportation functions in support of production, quality, and financial goals. The individual must be able to effectively interface with all other department and functions of the organization.  He/she will be directly responsible for developing and maintaining capital and operational budgets.  This individual must have the available skills and ability to support the Vice President of Operations in meeting corporate goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

·         Insure that production schedules are assembled on a timely basis with consideration for cost efficiency.

·         Maintain and enforce company policy and programs, to include administering of discipline as required.

·         Maintain adequately trained workforce capable of meeting quality production requirements.

·         Insure the facility is maintained in a sanitary manner and that all products meet regulatory and customer specification.

·         Direct activities of maintenance, laboratory, and transportation departments to insure that quality and efficiency goals are achieved.

·         Insure reporting systems are in place and maintained to control quality, yield, and cost controls.

·         Will be responsible for developing operational and capital budgets.

·         Will be the primary contact at the facility for trade, regulatory, and community relations.

 

Position Qualifications:

·         Masters of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science or, fifteen years related experience and/or training or, combination of education and experience.

·         Ability to read, comprehend, and apply the principles from technical material and/or manuals.

·         Ability to write detailed correspondence, instructions, and memos.

·         Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

·         Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent, and to draw and interpret graphs and charts.

·         Ability to identify potential problem areas in operations, quality, financial, and regulatory compliance to minimize risk to the Organization.

·         Must be able to manage all aspects of plant operations.

·         Support Ethical Sourcing initiatives by adhering to all Human Resources policies and acting as responsible stewards of the environment.

 

Areas of Proficiency:

·         Evaporation and drying principles and operation.

·         Butter making principles and operation.

·         Chemical safety and use of personal safety gear instruction.

·         Principles of pasteurization.

·         Forklift certification.

·         Milk receivers and antibiotic screening principles.

·         Bacteriology and other dairy laboratory principles.

·         Clean In Place technology principles.

·         Basic chemistry certification.

·         Word processing skills.

·         Spreadsheet skills.

·         Accounting and Finance coursework.

 

Experience:

·         Cheese manufacturing is very important.

·         Whey powder experience is an added plus.
