Summary:


The Trainer and Scheduling Coordinator develops and coordinates training to all production personnel to ensure a focus on safety, quality and productivity. This position is also responsible for coordinating production employee work schedules to efficiently meet customer and production demands. The Trainer and Scheduling Coordinator maintains employee performance data to ensure qualified staff are trained and available to perform positions. When needed, this position will replace Production Leads and Production Supervisors during vacations or other absences.

Responsibilities:

1.  Training

A.      Develop, coordinate, administer and monitor employee training to perform job duties with a focus on safety, quality and productivity.

·         Understands, on a mastery level, our equipment, positions, processes and procedures.

·         Defines employee certification program and levels.

·         Creates training materials geared to various audiences and learning styles.

·         Manages Exam Builder by creating and editing assessments and coordinating the administration of employee assessments.

·         Manages Exam Builder and other resources to create, edit and administer assessment of employee knowledge, document training, and establish follow-up required.

·         Assimilates new employees into the department and all aspects of their job. Train on safety and job expectations. 

·         Provides daily instruction, direction and encouragement, motivating employees to achieve their maximum quality and productivity

·         Conducts training, and/or coordinates training with mentors, to ensure employees are properly trained with a focus on safety, quality and productivity, and provides information to Production Leads and Production Supervisors regarding progress toward working at standard.

·         Conducts required communication meetings, directs and advises employees on their job requirements.

·         Provides direction to employees for improvement and monitors all employees for performance and safety regulations.

·         Trains employees and confirms understanding and knowledge on:

Ø  Proper use of equipment, tools and techniques

Ø  Proper procedures (SOP’s, SSOP’s, GMP’s, safety, etc.)

Ø  Proven best way to perform tasks (i.e. food safety, people safety, efficiency, etc.)

Ø  Completion of paperwork (i.e. legible, complete, accurate)

Ø  Appropriate communication with others (i.e. Supervisors, Peers, Maintenance, QA, etc.)

 

B.      Manages standard operating procedures and sanitation standard operating procedures by creating and editing documents.

C.      Assists in the completion and maintenance of department processing and training materials.

D.      Participates in process improvement and problem-solving to improve safety, quality and productivity within the plant.

E.       Monitors and evaluates training program’s effectiveness, success and ROI, creating metrics and periodically reports on them to management.

2.  Scheduling

A. Coordinates production employee schedules to ensure sufficient staff are scheduled to effectively meet production demands.

·         Review department production schedules and coordinate additional or reduced staff needed each day to meet customer demands.

·         Manage employee requests for time off by approving or denying requests and coordinating replacements for approved absences.

·         Manage timekeeping system by monitoring employee timecards, reviewing absence recording and verifying timecards

 

3.     Cross-trains others to perform essential duties.  NOTE:  If for whatever reason the Production Trainer is absent, production training will be the responsibility of the Production Lead. If the Quality Control Manager and Production Trainer are absent, quality training will be performed by the Lab Supervisor.

4.     May perform Production Lead or other production/packaging positions.

·         May perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

1.       High School Diploma or GED is required.  Bachelor Degree with an emphasis in Communication, Education, Business or related field of study and two or more years of experience in a training capacity within a food manufacturing facility, or a combination of education and experience is preferred.

2.       Computer literacy and the skill to operate specialized software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Exam Builder, is required.

·         Ability to effectively train, direct the work of employees and build effective working relationships is required to meet department and company goals is required.

3.       Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to present information and respond to questions is required.

Physical
 Requirements:

 

1.       Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, push, pull and lift 50# and successfully complete processing and production job screen.

2.       Physical ability to sit or stand for long periods of time is required.

3.       The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet) is required.

4.       Ability to work in hot and wet conditions required.
