Summary:

This Company, a multi-billion, leading global food company with operations on every major continent around the world is seeking a dynamic, progressive and proven leader to oversee one of its major further processing plants in North America.

Responsibilities:

This General Manager role is responsible for directing the overall operations, planning, and performance of a further processing facility. Responsibilities include continuous process improvement, fact based decision making, and strategic planning initiatives to improve operations and realize greater efficiencies as well as cost savings. This role is also responsible for product quality, food safety, and employee safety/welfare for the facility. 

 

Additional responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Managing the operation, planning, and performance of the facility in order to create an assured supply for customers at the budgeted cost. Ensure the facility runs efficiently and safely, with all necessary resources within the allotted budget.
  • Overall responsibility for product quality and food safety for the facility. This includes oversight and management of the employees who run the employee safety program and the food safety programs.
  • Project management, continuous improvement, and strategic initiatives. This includes improving operations by implementing methods to realize greater efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Optimizing production and mix to drive profitable and sustainable growth
  • Managing supply chain through purchases and cost containment
  • Defines and recommends the strategic direction needed to achieve long−term operating and profit goals.
  • Advancing the standards, ideals, and image of the companyís Proteins Divisions when working on projects with the processing plants and/or customers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorís degree in business/agriculture/engineering preferred with at least 7 years of job related experience in a poultry or meat processing USDA manufacturing environment
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
  • HACCP Certification.

         Proven ability in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision making to achieve organizational objectives with an ability to problem solve and facilitate solutions with limited direction

         Strong planning, organization, and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong, trusted working relationships with internal and external business customers and executive level management.

         Experience with raw material purchasing and sourcing a plus

         Strategic forecasting and Production Planning

  • High level of computer literacy with the ability to do statistical analysis
  • Strong commitment to safety with the demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve safety and productivity goals
