Summary:

Primary job function is to produce quality products in a cost efficient manner while overseeing efficient operations and maintenance of the plant facilities. Promote team management and employee morale.

Primary Duties:

         Provide for supervisory control of raw material inventory and daily usages.

         Plan and assign production sheets and work scheduling.

         Work with Quality Manager to assure control of products, processing, packaging, handling and storage. Including all co-pack products.

         Provide immediate attention and notification to any observed loss of quality or shelf life.

         Direct supervisory personnel in assigned areas and development of staff.

         Evaluate and propose improvements in production costing and quality.

         Establish and enforce GMPís and SOPís for all plant and operator positions.

         Develop a production schedule that provides for inspection and maintenance of process equipment at proper intervals.

         Provide leadership and direction during all plant inspections from both regulatory and customer mandated inspections.

         Enlist outside support to meet operational needs as necessary.

         Revise and enforce procedures to minimize product loss, time loss accidents and OHSA out of compliance losses.

         Provide for the hiring, training and development of staff.

         Manage personnel issues, attendance, performance, and disciplinary actions as necessary.

         Serves on various committees, i.e., Safety, Operations, Quality, etc.

         Other duties as deemed necessary by the Division Manager.

Qualifications:

*Thorough knowledge of dairy processing facilities.

         Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting, profit and loss, and able to create as necessary on project proposals.

         Meet physical requirements as defined by functional capacity evaluation.

 

Communication
Requirements:

         Written and verbal communication skills needed to direct staff and present management in company meetings.

         Must be able to communicate ideas and goals to all plant employees.

         Computer literate with working knowledge of software packages such as Excel, Word, Power Point, Lotus Notes, AS400, etc.

Education
and/or
Experience:

         A four-year degree in an appropriate field preferred and 4 years of management production experience.

         Must have directed staff in achieving goals and objectives in a food production environment.
