Summary:

The purpose of this position is to provide principled leadership and support for company growth and improvements, while supporting employees to ensure standard operating procedures, GMPís/SQF and quality programs. The Plant Supervisor will provide strong leadership, guidance and direction for all employees within the plant. This role will have direct responsibility for cheese and whey production and to ensure that volume, cost standards, and quality parameters of the company are achieved. Additional responsibilities include managing a work environment that is a 24/7 operation with numerous product changes, high cheese and whey quality standards along with advanced cheese and whey process technology. Excellent technical knowledge of cheese and cultured dairy manufacturing is essential along with strong communication and interpersonal skills and a willingness to support a 24-hour operation.

Responsibilities:

         Troubleshoot product stoppages and direct the work force to be proactive measures to prevent product stoppages.

         Report and fill scheduling vacancies due to sick time call-ins or production changes.

         Insure the work force is meeting the current standards of conduct.

         Responsible for company generated SOPís/JIBs/GMPís and general production guidelines.

         Check the legal instruments (HTST and all sealed chart recorders) insuring product is legally pasteurized.

         Review and approve SQF documentation.

         Ensures maintenance receives appropriate work orders

         Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications and delivery dates of products orders.

         Responsible for maintaining and enforcing company policy and programs, to include administering of discipline as required.

         Responsible for the training of employees in their job requirements.

         Responsible for the scheduling, and /or, adjustment in schedules to accommodate production requirements.

         Responsible for maintaining statistical information necessary to make process adjustments as required for yield and quality maximization.

         Responsible for handling specific assignments or projects.

         Required to operate all plant production equipment as needed.

         Plans and direct production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.

         Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.

         Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.

         Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.

         Consults with engineering and or maintenance personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.

         Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.

 

Qualifications:

         Bachelorís degree with manufacturing experience in dairy manufacturing required.

         3-8 years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
