Create sweet and savory taste solutions using seasoning blends, flavors and technologies. Interact with internal and external teams, including sales and customers to build relationships and partnerships that support getting and winning new projects.† Through bench top product development, technical innovation and market/consumer insights provide customers with consumer-winning, market relevant seasonings and flavors.† †Ensure products meet company and customer criteria, and comply with established quality standards and regulatory requirements.


  • Deliver on customer requests to satisfy project needs from a conceptual phase through commercialization and troubleshooting.

-         Participate in ideation/brainstorming.

-         Develop sweet and savory seasoning and flavor solutions that achieve customer requirements for cost, performance, organoleptic and regulatory/labeling.

-         Develop gold standard mock bases and model systems for flavor and seasoning performance evaluation and submission to customers through subject matter expertise.

-         Match competitive products.

-         Optimize formulations.

-         Execute internal processes correctly and consistently from Concept to Commercialization.

         Establish superior level of expertise in assigned subject matter expert †area for food ingredients.

         Understand customer manufacturing processes and troubleshoot issues associated with our products.

         Identify suppliers for new raw materials needed for customer projects, ensuring quality and taste requirements are met, and compliance to regulatory and labeling specifications is achieved.

         Establish Quality Assurance specifications and blend instructions for each product formula developed.

         Attend first-run productions for new products and consult with Operations and Quality Controlon recommendations for efficient manufacturing and first-pass quality of product formulas.

         Utilize market and consumer insights, along with sensory data, to deliver flavor profiles that meet the customerís requirements.

         Support customer engagement programs through development of on-trend prototypes and participation in ideation and marketing programs.

         Manage complex projects including, but not limited to: definition of project scope, experimental design, and execution of experiment, interpretation and application of results.

         Stay current with new regulations and labeling laws, and investigate new food ingredients, technologies, and processing methods on both the ingredient and finished product formulation to improve product development activities.

         Conduct job duties in a manner that supports personal safety, food safety, and quality standards.

         Maintain a clean and organized work environment.


         Bachelor of Science in Food Science or related field; 3+ years of previous experience in food product development.

         Product development experience in any of the following applications is desirable: dressings and sauces, baking/baked goods, bars, and liquid, solid or cultured dairy products and bases.

         Knowledge of food ingredient functionality.

         Strong communication and presentation skills for customer interaction and internal collaboration.

         Experience solving technical challenges to deliver desired flavor profile, meet labeling requirements and provide excellent functionality in the finished product application.

         Passion for excellence in all areas of work, with a high degree of ownership and professional commitment.

         Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

         Must be able to taste and smell chemicals, flavors and food products.

         Ability to lift 25 pounds.
