The R&D Manager, Savory and Sweet Applications and Development will lead the product development team of 3 responsible for development of seasoning blends and finished products which are packaged for final consumer use. 


         Provide technical guidance and work prioritization for product development and innovation efforts. 

         Serve as a technical resource for company strategy development and cross-functional initiatives. 

         Ensure all job activities are done in a manner that supports personnel safety, food safety, and quality standards.

         Provide technical expertise and serve as a resource in areas such as product and process development and optimization, consumer packaging configuration, sensory evaluation, ingredient functionality and interactions, and quality validation.

         Identify suppliers for new raw materials, ensuring quality, taste and labeling requirements are met, and compliance to regulatory and labeling specifications is achieved.

         Establish the QA specifications and blend instructions for each product formula.

         Attend first-run productions for new product and consult with operations personnel on recommendations for efficient manufacturing and first-pass quality of product formulas.

         Consult with consumer product packaging team to deliver on customer standards for product quality.

         Consult with Sales and the customer as required for successful project execution.

         Validate new technologies in application and processing, and develop concepts and prototypes to demonstrate innovation and technology advances.


         Bachelor of Science in Food Science or related field; Master's degree preferred.

         12+ years of previous experience in food product development across a broad range of food products and 3+ years of managing food scientists. 

         Experience working with Operations is a major plus.

         Ability to manage multiple projects, in a team of up to 3 direct reports in a fast paced environment.

         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
