Summary:

Working closely with customers on new product development and innovation/concept development while performing the following duties:

 

This is a rapidly growing family owned company which company culture reflects.

Business is primarily working with customers who have existing products and helping them source ingredients, scale their formulas up to the plant level, troubleshooting problems that happen in the process.

Very fast paced company with a large number of new projects happening all at once so this person needs to able to think quick and get things done; frequently jumping from one project to the next.

 

Duties &
Responsibilities:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Support product implementation by Identifying and advancing new productivity and research concepts.
  2. Lead the planning, organization and implementation of projects/research programs designed to result in new products and improved quality of existing products and processes.
  3. Translate product ideas, industry trends and customer requests into concepts by preparing prototypes and supporting documentation for customer and sales presentations.
  4. Studies methods to improve quality of foods such as flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, convenience, or physical, chemical, and microbiological composition of foods.
  5. Coordinate and conduct bench-top, pilot plant trials and scale-up trials in support of prototype and process development. Prepare and communicate test plan, formulas, specification and all other required documentation.
  6. Constant review of existing formulations to ensure product safety and accuracy.
  7. Work with Manufacturing and Quality Departments to optimize process and production of existing items within the limits of product specifications. Provide technical leadership for continuous improvement initiatives such as process improvements, cost reductions and quality improvements.
  8. Effectively work with suppliers to obtain or develop ingredients or formulation solutions.
  9. Provide technical and leadership training for product development staff.

Supervisory
Responsibilities:

  1. Develops and maintains an effective organization through the selection, training, compensation and motivation of all subordinate personnel.
  2. Provides guidance and direction to subordinate quality personnel to assist them in their personal and professional development.
  3. Supervises quality inspectors to ensure performance of all internal and external quality checks.

Education/
Experience:

         B.S. Degree in Food Science, Food and Nutrition, Microbiology, M.S. preferred.

         Minimum of 1 year related work experience.

         Extensive experience and knowledge in fruit puree selection and processing is highly desirable.

         Experience and knowledge in beverage manufacturing and talent and passion in culinary arts are also highly desirable.
