JO 15754 Quality Control Manager



Salary Range:

$58K - $72K


The Quality Control Manager is responsible for managing the operations of the Raw and Pasteurized milk products ensuring that proper testing is maintained on raw materials received, production in process, and finished goods.

Essential Duties &

  • Direct and coordinate the work activities of lab supervisors and their direct reports.
  • Monitor the status of all lab operations with a focus on maintaining quality standards.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and document control practices.
  • Evaluate job performance of all Lab supervision and review their direct reports, set goals that are measurable and attainable with individual accountability. 
  • Monitor production runs for quality by measuring and documenting using statistical process control.
  • Notify production supervision and processors of any correction s needed and verify with proper testing.
  • Lead direct reports by example to gain trust and integrity.
  • Assist with training of QC personnel to maintain compliance with quality control standards.
  • Assist with external, State, and FDA regulatory inspections and take corrective actions as necessary. 
  • Monitor and ensure compliance to all OSHA, NYSA&M, FDA, SQF, and EEOC requirements.
  • Monitor the testing of ingredients.
  • Monitor and ensure quality standards set by the company for all products being processed.
  • Coordinate with management of supporting departments to resolve any issues regarding production.
  • Suggest, plan and organize future growth of laboratory operations.
  • Promote and provide excellent customer service with all customers.
  • Promote a safe and harmonious work environment and adherence to company policy and procedures.


  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in biology and/or chemistry or equivalent.
  • Direct or related experience of 3 years.
  • Versed in Six Sigma, 5S, and Problem solving focusing on Continuous Improvement.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes and methods, preferably in a dairy or food industry setting.
  • Familiarity with dairy manufacturing and microbiology.
  • Analytical ability and problem solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of fundamental quantitative analysis and statistical methods.

Technical writing skills to create policy documents and audit reports.

Physical Requirements:

Seeing:  Must be able to read reports and use computer.


Hearing:  Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with coworkers.


Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must be able to stand to open files and operate office equipment or mechanical equipment; mobility between departments or physical locations, and attend meetings of coworkers and management.


Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to climb, stoop, or kneel to perform routine tasks within the scope of job.


Lifting up to 50 lbs. / Pulling/Pushing:  Occasionally

Touching/Grasping/Feeling:  Must be able to write, type, and use office equipment or other equipment; along with handling material and equipment.
