JO 15762 Whey Supervisor



Salary Range:

$55K - $68K


Supervise and coordinate people engaged in the whey operation of an industrial cheese plant.

         Oversee a functional shift team of 5-8 people in reverse osmosis, evaporation, and whey powder production processes.

         Apply learned knowledge of processes for an accident free workplace, application of food safety policies, and continuous improvement.

         Work with shift maintenance to sustain operational readiness and reduce down time.



         Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.

         Plays key role in maintaining the quality of the products produced.

         Trains and validates employees in work methods and procedures.

         Oversees startup and shutdown of production equipment and make adjustments as needed to maintain product specifications.

         Ensures team is following company standard GMPs in their daily production tasks.

         Able to complete and/or assist in the duties of all jobs related to production when circumstances demand.

         May be asked to report to the plant during non-regular hours and cover unplanned absences.

         Shares responsibility for all aspects of plant functions as it relates to production in cooperation with cheese production supervisor.

         Ensure that all routine functions and paperwork are performed accurately and completed at required frequencies.

         Address human resource needs related to work team, ensuring proper documentation and communication with necessary parties and HC department.

         May be asked to assist with periodic review of employees. Work with plant and corporate personnel to resolve day-to-day production tasks.


Job Requirements:

         Excellent computer literacy/skill-work load requires working with data recorded on spreadsheets.

         Knowledge of quality assurance e procedures and sampling requirements.

         Ability to pay strong attention to detail and multitask effectively.

         Strong organizational skills.

         Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, procedures and related documents as needed).

         Understanding of Corporate and Plant QA policies including implementation and accountability to the policies.

         Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

         Requires the ability to communicate and document work via email, telephone, in written form, or in person. Good to excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.



         BS Degree in a science related field or a minimum of 3+ years' experience in a food production plant. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

         Completion of related college courses a plus.
