JO 15776 Production Manager – Cheese/Whey



Salary Range:

$90K - $105K


Manage and coordinate people engaged in the whey operation of an industrial cheese plant.
Oversee employee team of 22 people in reverse osmosis, milk receiving, evaporation, and whey powder production processes.

Apply learned knowledge of processes for an accident free workplace, application of food safety policies, and continuous improvement.
Work with maintenance to sustain operational readiness and reduce down time.


·         Manage day-to-day and strategic activities in support of the quality, yield, technical and mission objectives of the Company with focus on the Whey Plant.

·         Mandate adherence to all safety guidelines and work to provide a safe work environment for all employees.

·         Work closely with and assist all Department Managers to assure the common business goals of the Company are met.

·         Lead in the production level development of personnel and new products through coaching, training and utilization of research capabilities.

·         Manage daily and long-term production activities to meet or exceed budgeted quality, yield and operating cost targets by managing equipment efficiency and productivity.

·         Manage the technical activities of the Protein Plant inclusive of, but not limited to, product development and application, pilot trials, process optimization and new process implementation

·         Assist the Whey Production Team to aid in predicting, monitoring and controlling daily and long-term activities

·         Develop and mentor professional growth & advancement of department staff.

·         Promote Company Culture.

·         Achieve common business goals through cooperative alignment with all departments.

Training Competencies:


·         Annual completion of OSHA required safety training.

·         Annual completion of Food Safety overview training.


·         Excellent computer literacy/skills-work load requires working with data recorded on spreadsheets.

·         Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and sampling requirements.

·         Ability to pay strong attention to detail and multitask effectively.

·         Strong organizational skills.

·         Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, procedures and related documents as needed).

·         Understanding of Corporate and Plant QA policies including implementation and accountability to the policies.

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

·         Requires the ability to communicate and document work via email, telephone, in written form, or in person. Good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.



·         B. S. Degree in Science related field or minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a whey production plant.

·         Previous managerial experience preferred.

·         Completion of related college courses a plus.
