Summary:

The Production Supervisor position is responsible for assisting the Department Manager in overseeing production in the cheese plant. The Production Supervisor supervises a 24/7/365 operation of workers and equipment in the cheese production area, while applying learned knowledge of processes involved and production methods.

Essential Duties &

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure 'In Process' targets are met; inspect and confirm that equipment has gone through CIP and is ready for Process.
  • Maintain milk silos and monitor equipment.
  • Track and monitor inventory.
  • Ensure  'In-Process' samples in lab are being completed.
  • Handle equipment issues.
  • Gather and review paperwork, legal charts and chemical concentrations.
  • Keep products moving through the system in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Prepare for audits.
  • Acquire parts and supplies as needed.
  • CIP equipment.
  • Necessary shut-downs, cleanup, and startup.
  • Review MSS for each area and hold operators accountable.
  • Review cheese results, make plans, and order ingredients.
  • Monitor employees and their breaks.
  • Pre-shift employee meetings.
  • Make weekly labor schedule and vacation approval.
  • Review weekly payroll time cards and sign off.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    • Responsible for employee relations including work direction of employees, hiring, training, performance reviews, administering policies and procedures, disciplinary action, and compensation recommendations. 
    • Direct implementation of departmental objectives, goals, and policies.
    • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Fill in for various positions when needed.
  • Help with trials.
  • Give plant tours.
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Safety Protocol
    • Stop any observed unsafe acts, and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
    • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
    • Support safety policies and programs.

Qualifications:

Education Required:

  • An Associate's or Technical degree is required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a science-related field is preferred.

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a food production plant is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
